Easy and Delicious Fudge Traditional and Specialty Fudge Recipes Kathy Gary 9781481165310 Books Reviews
- I knew I was taking a gamble on this since there was very little information provided in the sample review of it, but I went ahead with the purchase. I think this book is a disappointment actually. There are not many recipes and many, many of them are of the "marshmallow fluff" variety. There are a few variations on basic fudge - one that calls for "coffee liqueur" and one that is "Kahlua fudge" - when, in fact, coffee liqueur and Kahlua are the same thing. However, I didn't care about that since I wanted recipes and good instruction on basic, old-fashioned fudge, i.e. candy, not marshmallow fluff or sweetened condensed milk kinds of "fudge." This is more of a booklet than a book and really isn't very useful for someone, like me, looking for some great fudge recipes and instructions. It would have saved me unnecessary expense if and/or the author had provided a decent review because I wouldn't have bought it. As it is, it is too small and not expensive enough to return and yet a waste of money, in my opinion. If you're looking for great fudge recipes and instruction, I would look elsewhere, but that is just one fudge-fan's opinion.
- Fudge is one of my favorite things in the world, and I've been making fudge since I was a child. So I thought I knew enough about fudge and how to make it, but Kathy's tips at the beginning of the book are not just for beginners. I learned a couple of things that will help me in my next round of fudge making.
I already knew about soft ball stage and so on, but Kathy explains it very clearly for beginners, with links to online demonstrations.
If you love fudge, then this book is definitely for you. I highly recommend it. - I admired the way in which Ms. Gray went into detail in sharing her knowledge of making fudge. Fudge making is not as simple as it may seem but after reading the instructions and following the details of "Easy and Delicious Fudge Traditional and Specialty one can actually feel very professional the second time around. I have tried the "Sweet and Delicious Marshmallow Fudge and I am pleased to report that it is very delicious. My plan is to try them all very soon. I recommend this book if you want a delightful experience in sweets.
- This is a TINY book with recipes that can be found on the internet. Wish I had not spent the $5 dollars. It is too much work to return the book.
- With Christmas coming up, I was interested in finding some fudge recipes and was glad I picked up this book. It has a wide variety of recipes including a super easy "Quick! 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge" in the microwave. I also enjoyed the links to the videos which helped me as I've never made fudge myself before. Recommended!
- I was a little disappointed in this book. I grew up in a housing project where purchased treats were rare. My Mom frequently made us fudge. Peanut butter because we didn't see nuts very often. I no longer have her recipe. I know it had 2 cups of sugar, cocoa powder, butter and milk and vanilla at the end. She didn't measure out the peanut butter just took out a huge scoop from the jar and added it with the sugar and milk to cook. One of my boy cousins who lived very close to us asked her for the recipe to make himself a batch. In her hurry she forgot to tell him about the milk. You couldn't get that mess out of the pan. I was hoping to find a recipe close to what she made. My husband worked in a fudge store and made fudge commercially but again not like my Moms. So I was disappointed. Canned milk was kept for coffee cream, and marshmallow fluff was unknown. Sounds faster and easier than Moms. We didn't use a double boiler or have a thermometer just a dish with cold water.
- Several basic and simple recipes. I was looking for something a bit more advanced. Wanted the "old fashioned" with some flavor options. Nice booklet but just not what I was looking for.
- Ms. Gary's instructions are simple and clear. She takes the terror out of fudge making and even includes recipes that don't use a candy thermometer. I can't wait to try some of these.
